Getting started: your first ten minutes

Signing up

Start from skrib.com and choose Google, Microsoft, or Continue with email. Email sign-in uses a six-digit code rather than a password. Setup asks about your identity, writing category, how you found Skrib, theme, writing kind, AI preference, and how you want to begin. Choose the no-AI route for the Purist studio; choose another route and Companion is available when you want it. Skrib then creates a starter project and opens its Plan or Draft according to that choice.

The first ten minutes

1. Look around Home. Your projects sit as posters on a shelf, with a greeting, today’s word count, and yesterday’s.
2. Create a project. Click New Project and choose Manuscript, Screenplay, or General. This sets up the editor for the kind of work. You can also import an existing draft and tell Skrib which kind it should become.
3. Name it, dress it. Name the project (rename anytime). Customize poster if you like: pick a style, a color, or upload a cover.
4. Write the first lines. The project opens on the Draft. The page says “Write, type ‘/’ for commands”. Type; Skrib saves as you work.
5. Open the Plan. Drop a Sticky for each beat, add a Scene Card or Note, try a template, or bring in research. Pin what you want one click away.
6. Meet Companion (if you chose it). Open it from the right rail. A fresh chat offers suggestions for the screen you are on. Ask “What can you do?” for a tour grounded in your work.
