Tabs, pins, split screen, full screen
Tabs
Home stays fixed at the left of the top bar. Open projects and Library files appear beside it as tabs. Drag tabs to reorder them, or close one with its x. Closing a tab does not delete the project or file.
Click + at the end of the tab strip to open a Choose what to open tab. Search your projects and files, filter the list, create a project, or upload a file. When you choose something, it replaces the chooser in the same place. If you leave the chooser unfinished, it remains a normal tab until you close it and returns after a reload.
For a quicker route, press Cmd+K on Mac or Ctrl+K elsewhere. This opens the chooser over the studio; click outside it or press Esc to dismiss it.
Pinned tabs
Pin a Note or file tile on the Plan and it appears in the project’s second row of tabs, beside Draft and Plan. Use these tabs for one-click access to an outline, character sheet, research PDF, or other frequently used material. Unpin it from the same pin control.
Split screen
Click the split-screen button in the right rail to add a second pane. Your current project or file stays on the left and Choose what to open appears on the right; from Home or Library, both panes begin as choosers. Pick the current project’s Plan, another project, or a Library file. You can also choose Open in split from a project, file, draft, heading, or Companion source menu.
The panes share the top tab strip, but each pane keeps its own current view and controls. Click inside a pane to focus it, and drag the divider to resize the two sides.
Once both sides are chosen, their tabs join into one divided split tab. Click either half to reopen the pair and focus that side. Drag the joined tab to move the pair together.
Click the active split-screen button, or right-click the joined tab, to open Arrange split view:
- Separate Tabs turns the two sides back into ordinary tabs and keeps the focused side open. It is unavailable when both panes are two views of the same project tab.
- Switch Tabs exchanges the left and right sides.
- Change Left or Change Right replaces that side with Choose what to open.
- Close Left or Close Right closes that side and expands the other.
The current pane layout is part of the page address, and Skrib remembers open tabs and split pairs, so a split can return after navigation or reload.
Full screen
The Full Screen button in the right rail makes the whole Skrib studio fill your display by entering the browser’s full-screen mode. The studio interface—and either one or two panes—stays visible. Click the button again or press Esc to leave full screen.
